Main planning services & recent projects

The planning work undertaken includes the identification of development opportunities, preparation of feasibility studies and provision of planning support statements and design and access statements for planning applications.

In addition the practice also undertakes research and preparation of appeal statements and their appendices.

Submissions are also undertaken on behalf of clients to the Local Development Framework and the relevant EIP on sites throughout the UK.

Clients are from the development industry, businesses and private individuals with an emphasis on redevelopment and renewal projects for both housing and commercial uses, and the promotion of tourism.

The main office is in the Borders and the practice is well placed to provide planning advice for projects in the north of England and Scotland, as well as continuing to work for clients further South.

Examples of recent projects include:

Renovation and conversion of a Victorian silk factory to dwellings and new residential apartments at Rothwell, redevelopment of Symington's coffee factory at Market Harborough., redevelopment of hotel site, Bournemouth, conversion of Victorian school house to dwellings and infill housing in Cambridgeshire, change of use of Grade 2 star listed building to naturopathic clinic at Langley Park, and various development sites in villages in the south east of England and Northumberland.

Commercial work includes: renovation of a listed building to offices at Woburn Sands, provision of a garden centre in Milton Keynes, conversion of redundant farm buildings to business uses in Aylesbury Vale and redevelopment of redundant pavilion to holiday accommodation in the Scottish Borders.

The approach is to offer an analysis of sites through pro-active planning based on research and negotiation which identifies the most appropriate way forward within the framework of the Local Planning Authority and meets the objectives of the client.
