Planning Design Delivery

Barton Willmore has grown organically to become the UK’s leading, independent Planning and Design consultancies. Originally established as an architectural practice over 70 years ago, Barton Willmore now has nine regional offices which can be utilised at any point during the development process. We act for private and public sector clients across all types of development, from key national urban regeneration sites to a local village hall and our personal approach to the services we provide has consistently resulted in long standing client relationships and a high level of repeat business.

We believe the integration of planning and design expertise is central to successful projects and the services we offer have evolved over the years to reflect the increasing complexity of issues to be addressed. Emphasis is placed upon planning and designing comprehensive, deliverable solutions that will secure the necessary permission and are also capable of long term sustainability.Our blend of planning and design related services enable our teams to identify the wider implications of their advice and the need for an integrated approach. We are also adept at working within external multi-disciplinary teams.

Projects are structured around small, client focused teams. Clients can choose to use the services of the local office to their region or to draw specialist or personal advice from any member of the Practice, wherever they are located.

Our core Planning services include;

  • Advice on planning legislation at national, regional and local level
  • Representation in respect of regional strategies, structure plans, unitary development plans, local plans and at public inquiries (with a success rate twice the national average)
  • Identifying sites for development through land studies
  • Site and sustainability appraisals
  • Retail specific planning support
  • Masterplanning and development briefs
  • Urban regeneration
  • Urban design/townscape studies
  • Minerals, waste and energy planning
