Planning Consultant
I have forty years experience in local government planning. This includes ten years as Head of Strategic Planning with Cambridgeshire County Council, formulating growth strategy and development plans for the Cambridge Sub-Region.
My skills and experience include:
+strategy development and policy frameworks; +planning for sustainable communities; +planning for the Green Belt; +flood risk management and sustainable drainage; +economic growth and infrastructure needs; +development management +creative thinking and problem solving +researching and preparing evidence; +working collaboratively with major organisations at a national and local level; +working with Councillors and community representatives; +acting as a witness at planning inquiries; +driving forward key projects; +negotiating planning agreements.
Planners are an important catalyst in the process of working together towards meeting social, economic and environmental needs. I have the relevant skills and experience, including political sensitivity and awareness of public perceptions, to help in this task.
At the moment, there are additional challenges posed by an adverse economic climate and uncertainty over the detail of changes to the planning system proposed by the Coalition Government. I aim to bring a fresh and flexible approach to these challenges, allied to the benefits of my long experience.
My top priority is to meet the needs of every client on time and to a high quality while providing excellent value for money.
