Hoddell Associates is a professional practice of both Chartered Town Planners and Chartered Surveyors specialising in advising upon development and planning issues. Key areas of work include:

  • Preparation/submission of planning applications (from single plots to major mixed use schemes).

  • Assessment of development potential of property and land.

  • Undertaking Development Plan representations and presenting expert evidence at Examinations in Public etc.

  • Acting as planning expert in relation to Planning Appeals, including written representations, attendance at informal hearings and public inquiries and where necessary instructing Planning Counsel direct to support clients cases.

  • Master planning and preparation of Development Briefs/Design Statements, particularly in conjunction with other associated professional disciplines.

  • Enforcement and Breach of Condition Notices.

  • Sales/acquisition of Development Land/Buildings.

  • Valuations.

  • Advising upon Option and Conditional Contracts, including valuation and planning clauses thereunder.

  • Project Co-ordination and Development Consortium work, working in conjunction with other professional disciplines and landowners/developers when representing clients interests in major projects. Examples of such projects include the Weston Regeneration Area proposals, the Bradley Stoke and Emersons Green schemes in Bristol, Okehampton (Devon) and Ledbury (Herefordshire).

  • Compulsory Purchase Orders.

Recent examples of our work include:

  • The redevelopment of a variety of urban brown field sites for housing development throughout the Bristol sub-region.

  • The preparation of Concept Statements for submission in support of planning applications.

  • The promotion of land for housing and/or mixed use developments via the LDF.

  • The pursuit of planning applications for the conversion and use of various agricultural buildings for employment, tourism, education and residential use throughout the region.
