Multi-disciplinary practice offering planning and architectural services from initial site investigation through to construction management. Planning services include development appraisal, planning applications, appeals and the resolution of problem sites. Specialist interests concern housing association development, formulation of property and planning strategies, sustainability and work involving historic buildings and conservation.
Pellings' Town Planning consultancy is led by James Sharp MRTPI MRICS, Chartered Town Planner. The Practice blends a high level of technical skill with the experience of working in the increasingly complex world of property development.
Our aim is to produce solutions which meet the needs of the client whilst reconciling the often conflicting requirements of local planning authorities, and other interested parties.
Most of our planning consultancy work is related to buildings in urban areas, and therefore by definition, brownfield sites.
We have acted for a number of private and public sector housing clients, including a number of Housing Associations, in obtaining planning permission on sites which have had a problematic or difficult planning history. The key to resolving these problems is to understand the concerns of the wider community and ensure that proposals achieve the correct balance by adhering to UDP and LDF guidelines, emerging Government advice on the use of previously developed land, and the circumstances of the individual site.
The process can often involve meeting with the local community and other stakeholders to discuss the objectives and merits of a scheme, particularly where there may be a large number of local objections.
